Knife Angel Visits Herefordshire

The Knife Angel is visiting Hereford and is situated just outside the west entrance to the Cathedral for the next couple of weeks. Raising awareness of the impact of violent crime on families and communities. Standing a staggering 27 feet tall, weighing a whopping 3.5 ton and created from 100,000 confiscated knives from police forces around the UK!  It really is an amazing and thought provoking piece of art.

The team responsible for bringing the piece to Hereford is headed by Alison Davies and Meryl Cain.  Alison knows first hand the devastating impact knife crime can have on a family.  Sadly, she lost her own son to knife crime in 2018.  Originating from the Bristish Iron Centre in Oswestry and created by sculptor Alfie Bradley. The statue aims to educate children, young people and adults about the harmful effects that violence can create.

We need to all play a part in bringing this subject to the forefront of peoples minds…only then do we stand a chance on tackling and overcoming it!

Take a visit to find out more and why not have a look around the beautiful cathedral whilst you are there.  It’s a lovely place to sit and have a picnic and take a walk over the River Wye.
